The Russians like to
say that, if Moscow is the head of Russia and Saint Petersburg
its heart, then Nizhny Novgorod is... its
pocket. Dating from 1221, the city is replete with historical, cultural and
artistic monuments. In 1992 it was registered by UNESCO as one of the 100 towns
and cities on the World Heritage list.
Today, over 30,000
students have chosen to study there. It is its energy and openness which best characterise
the town, banned to foreigners until 1991. Nizhny Novgorod
is a town of human proportions, where life is still relatively cheap. The cafés
lining the pedestrian streets are open until the small hours and propose a
variety of concerts every evening.
By choosing a provincial Russian town, you will find yourself off the beaten
track and away from the classical tourist destinations. Discover the real Russia, life as
lived by the majority of Russians today. You will be fully immersed in everyday
Russian culture, what better for a language study holiday?
Nizhny-Novgorod CREF
At its Nizhny-Novgorod site, CREF has 4
comfortably appointed training rooms. All the rooms are fitted with audio
visual equipment. Around CREF you will find many cafés and restaurants in which
you can eat fairly cheaply. Should you need to consult Internet, computer
equipment is available.
Nizhny Novgorod CREF is located in
the town centre, a stone’s throw from Pokrovskaya
Street, the main pedestrian shopping street.
All year Nizhny Novgorod CREF proposes group Russian lessons and one-to-one Russian lessons.
